I caused a six-person pile up at the rink

I'm ok at ice skating.

Ok as in, whenever I get on the rink I warm up by skating around the edge a few times, catching onto the wall whenever I stumble, until I eventually get my bearings enough to head out into the middle area.

So there I was, building my confidence and having a grand time, when I realised I was going a little too fast and had lost control. I made a beeline for the wall, but crashed right into a group of four girls who were holding hands. I fell, they fell on me, and - because we were on ice - we all kept sliding into another two men.

Oops.

As everyone tried to get back onto their feet, one of the men told me:

"Just slow down, ok?"

When it's all going well, we get excited and pick up speed - but that can be your downfall.

When you're on a sales conversation, keep your head. If it looks like they want to buy, don't just rush into it. Take a breath and keep going steady.

And when your business is growing fast, that's great - but check if you need to slow down.

Oh, it wasn't hard.

All I had to do was picture that pile of bodies on the ice (with me at the bottom), and that man telling me:

Just slow down, ok?
