You don't always need new customers to make more money

I met with a pair of business owners this week.

I met with a pair of business owners this week.

They got right to the point:

“We need to get more people calling us.”

Fair enough. I gave them some new strategies and approaches to try.

But then, I decided to take a look at the other parts of their business.

Turns out:

1. They were charging less than the going rate

2. They were billing hourly in an industry where this didn’t make sense

3. They didn’t know how to handle scope creep and often lost money or trust

4. There were some client requests that they didn’t know what to do with

5. They often undercharged because they ‘felt bad’ that it worked out to be so expensive

Sometimes, the issue isn’t getting new customers.

It’s dealing better with the ones you already have.
